Cross Rivers State FA chairman, Oswald Atuake has stressed that the
Golden Eaglets 5-0 drubbing of Gabon on Saturday has shown clearly that
the pitch of the U J Esuene Stadium where the match was played remains
in fine condition for football.
According to him, the lame excuse that the Super Eagles lost to Congo
earlier on this month because of the ground has now been nullified by
the very gallant Eaglets.
“They have shown to the whole of Nigeria that they are far better
assembled than the Super Eagles because the same pitch Super Eagles
trained and lost is the same pitch their younger counterparts played and
whitewashed Gabon”
“Will you now believe the news going round that the Calabar pitch is
not good? We are even preparing for the National Sports Festival so we
are preparing for that as well but the pitch is good and in perfect
condition.”
